I%26#039;m creating a website for my dad%26#039;s small business that sells athletic equipment (like gym mats and stuff). I%26#039;m really new to this whole website stuff, but I know some html. Any recommendations for a web host?? (I%26#039;m looking for something simple, dependable, and on the cheaper side)
What web host should I use for a small business website?
Bluehost.com
What web host should I use for a small business website?
Go to http://www.pagewaiter.com
That%26#039;s who I have mine through ( http://www.yoico.com ) and they are very cheap (starting at $20/year). Plus, they use CPanel so you can customize it to your liking and also install shopping carts, customer service programs, etc. very easily.
Reply:tripod.com. It%26#039;s a business server.
Reply:http://www.getawebpage.net lists quite a few good ones.
I use Bluehost.
Reply:I have my business website through Yahoo Geo cities and they are not that expensive plus they have a comprehensive guide to building your site.
Reply:If you intend to create more than 1 website, go for multiple web hosting where you could handle your websites in one account.
Following webhosting site is quite good.

What are the top web hosting companies for a small or medium sized business?
The one that%26#039;s at the top of most ratings I%26#039;ve seen is HostGator. I%26#039;ve had several accounts with them for over a year and I recommend them without reservation. They may not be the least expensive, but I think they provide the best value.

I have been using godaddy.com for years. Very happy with them.

Try 111hosting.com they are using cluster failover hosting, very reliable, price from $1/month, you can find very good plan for sall or medium size business. good luck. http://www.111hosting.com
Reply:I have found that WebStarts is the easiest way to create your very own custom website. There is a unique drag and drop tool that is extraordinarily easy to use. Plus with a free membership you can build up to 5 free websites, and there are no ads with 23 tools for a more professional looking website.

Reply:This depends on what you need. If you want only a host, there are many that can host a site. (I%26#039;ve heard reports of sites being down for periods of time, however.)
If the site is a major part of your business, you will want to go with the best. In my opinion, that would be SBI. I%26#039;ve put a link in the resource box.
They offer lots of free ebooks on various types of businesses. They do a lot to help their clients success financially. I%26#039;m a happy client.

Are server-side includes (SSI) available for Yahoo Small Business Hosting accounts?
I don%26#039;t want to use SiteBuilder to build my site within Yahoo Small Business Hosting and need to know if I can use my own web site template that includes server side include technology (SSI) for such items as a header/footer/menus/etc.
Are server-side includes (SSI) available for Yahoo Small Business Hosting accounts?
I don%26#039;t know if they are expressly allowed but I do know for certain that at least the include file ssi tag works. however, it will garble stuff like Yahoo store-tag links so your mileage may vary.

Can't access web site hosted by Yahoo Small Business, Can I Sue them?
I have been calling both verizon and yahoo for nearly 2 weeks, with no results. A yahoo tech told me the problem was verizon needs to unmerge my site from verizon. Verizon won%26#039;t assist me at all, they just hang up on me. Yahoo keeps sending me the same answer which requires me to log on that does not work. I am up to date on bill payments etc. but Yahoo web hosting will not help me. Just wondering if I have a case to sue them. I am paying for a service that I am not being allowed to access? I really do need to make some changes to the site but my site builder will no longer sign on correctly. The Verizon transfer program does not function at all. I have spoke to a dozen different techs and keep getting the run around. What should I do to get some real results?

It sounds like Verizon is your problem. I have a Yahoo Small Business account, and I%26#039;ve never had a problem with it.

Selling web hosting business. What's it worth? Where do I sell it?
I have a small but successful web hosting busines ( about 30 clients generating $1000 gross per month ) and was wondering how to value it and sell it. I could put it on Ebay I guess, but what%26#039;s it worth? Are there better / quicker ways to sell it?
Selling web hosting business. What%26#039;s it worth? Where do I sell it?
Hi,
First, I have sold two businesses on ebay several years back, and I assure you it is the WRONG place to sell a business today. The reason is that so many people throw up a site, and sell it as a %26quot;business%26quot;. They talk about potential revenue, and make outrageous claims.
About a year ago, I had some extra money I wanted to invest in an online business and I checked out ebay. Unfortunately, it was bombarded with these scams, and I had a very difficult time finding any legitimate seller. I very quickly eliminated the real from the scammers by explaining that I was an experienced business owner and asking to review the financial records of the company and see logs of traffic or a client list. Some responded that their company was not for me, others simply never got back to me.
Unfortunately all the fraudsters on ebay will demolish the true value of your company. I seriously doubt it selling for more than $50 since so many other people just get a reseller then claim to sell a %26quot;hosting business%26quot;.
I said all that to explain why ebay is the wrong place to sell your business. The better place would be to contact an existing web hosting company and offer to sell your 30 clients. They know their margins and their infrastructure and willing to pay a much higher price. You also don%26#039;t need to worry about producing income statements or balance sheets as if you were selling a business. Lastly, you are really freeing youself from the risk unneccessary litigation in case some one purchases your business, and claims that you provided false information.
To answer your other questions the top dollar for your company should be 3 time current annual profits. Revenue looks nice, but it is cashflow that increases equity (hence making money for the owner).
Hope this helps,
Leo
Selling web hosting business. What%26#039;s it worth? Where do I sell it?
ebay
Reply:From my experience, the web hosting business is cut-throat. What I might do is contact some of the other hosting services out there and consider selling directly to them. They will probably pay more because they understand the value of revolving accounts and the revenue stream.
Reply:To value this business, you need to figure out what it nets, not what it grosses, preferably on cash, rather than accruals, basis. Then you need to figure out a proper cash flow multiple, which will depend on growth in cash flows and fluctuations in cash flows.
Contact me via Yahoo! Answers with you e-mail address; I%26#039;ll help you figure it out.
